=========================================================================== Game : Strife Primary purpose : SinglePlayer/Deathmatch =========================================================================== Title : Winnowing Hall Filename : winnow.wad or winnowgl.wad for Strife: Veteran's Edition or any port supporting GL nodes New Versions : v1.2 New Release date : December 19, 2019 Old Version : v1.01 Old Release date : October 26, 2003 Author : Gokuma Description : It's Hexen map01 converted to Strife and replaces map05: The Prison. It's set up that it should go along with the course of the game in single player and of course should be good for deathmatch. Strife isn't a blast everything game. The guards won't attack until you hit them, fire a gun, or kill a high profile NPC. So avoid flying sentinals and collect stuff before you take them on or you may get wasted quick. Usage: strife1 -file winnow.wad -warp 5 or strife-ve -file winnowgl.wad -warp 5 Additional Credits to : Raven for Hexen and this level and music. Creators of editors used. Rogue and Velocity for Strife. =========================================================================== * Play Information * MAP # : MAP05 Single Player : Yes Deathmatch 2-8 Player : Yes Difficulty Settings : No New Sounds : No New Graphics : No New Music : Yes, from Hexen Demo Replaced : No Scripts : Yes, Dialog Text Changes * Update notes * I don't think the flag existed in regular vanilla Strife but a bunch of lines were marked jump over railing so you would get stuck on them until you jumped in modern Doom Source ports. So I cleared that flag on lines that had it. It probably originally happened when I selected the whole Hexen format map in WadAuthor and then pasted it into Strife's Doom format. Deleted unclosed sectors that were just stray lines. Fixed where textures were missing. Aligned the crap out of the textures. Holy ass! Changed some textures where they were inconsistent or not at all fitting. There's some rather abrupt texture transitions I don't like but changing them would mess up some alternating design style of the map. * Additional Gameplay Notes * (Outdated concerning ports or VE) When using parameters with Strife, remember that the exe is strife1.exe. Strife.bat of course will not pass on parameters. Strife's multiplayer mode seems to be deathmatch only with no way to play cooperative. As far as I know, coop player starts 2 through 8 are completely pointless, but I still put them in just in case. You can fake multiplayer like this: ipxsetup -nodes 1 -file winnow.wad -altdeath -warp 5 Also, Strife's default start map is really map02, the Town, while this wad replaces map05, the Prison. So exiting this map will take you to the town while a couple exits there will bring you back to this map. I suggest using DeathManager (dm.exe) from Doom for launching Strife multiplayer games. * Construction * Base : Hexen map01: Winnowing Hall Build Time : I didn't build it, at least not very much of it.
