=========================================================================== Game : Strife Primary purpose : Deathmatch =========================================================================== Title : The Silenced Lamasery Filename : Lamasery.WAD Version : v1.1 Release date : August 14, 2003 Author : Gokuma Site Address : http://gokuma.neocities.org Description : The first Strife pwad available on the internet as far as I know. This is a good size deathmatch level that should be suitable for anywhere from 2 to 8 players. Two player performance tested with a 700mhz comp connected to a 120mhz comp with a 19200 serial connection and it ran good. I tried to keep the detail at reasonably medium level, not too high or too low. Multiplayer varies substantially in Strife opposed to Doom. I suggest reading the additional gameplay notes further down in this text file and also Strife's multi.txt. I recommend patching Strife up to v1.31. Changes from first version : Fixed some a practically unnoticable error resulting in unclosed sectors (Thanks for pointing them out, Deep). Changed and aligned many textures. Adjusted light levels. Switched some assault guns and crossbows. Added some more detail. Added a way to get berserk punch once (but you can always exit and come back to the level to reset it) Replaced a demo. Additional Credits to : Phoenix for recording a demo with me (when he had only played Strife for the first time just the night before). Albert Dewey for a 3D cross trick in his evildog2.wad (map01 of heroes2.wad) for Doom 2 that I used a slight variation of in this level. id for Doom 2 map18 which this level contains a courtyard modeled roughly after. Creators of editors used. Rogue and Velocity for Strife. =========================================================================== * Play Information * MAP # : MAP01 Single Player : Player starts only Cooperative 2-8 Player : Player starts only Deathmatch 2-8 Player : Designed for Difficulty Settings : Yes New Sounds : No New Graphics : No New Music : Yes, midi of Pantera's "This Love" from http://tablature.narod.ru/pantera.htm This happens to be the song Doom 2's map18 and 27's music was a cover of. Demo Replaced : Yes, a not so serious deathmatch * Additional Gameplay Notes * When using parameters with Strife, remember that the exe is strife1.exe. Strife.bat of course will not pass on parameters. Strife's multiplayer mode seems to be deathmatch only with no way to play cooperative. As far as I know, coop player starts 2 through 8 are completely pointless, but I still put them in just in case. You can fake multiplayer like this: ipxsetup -nodes 1 -file lamasery.wad -altdeath -warp 1 -skill 3 Also, Strife's default start map is really map02, the Town, while this wad replaces map01, the Sanctuary. So exiting this map will take you to the town while a couple exits there will bring you back to this map. On skill 3 only I put teleport beacons by the player starts. Different players can summon their own armies of allies and once a player fires on an enemy, all out war will break out between the different sides. Strife defaults to skill 2 if you don't use the -skill parameter. I suggest using DeathManager (dm.exe) from Doom for launching Strife multiplayer games. * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Build Time : a few days on and off Editor(s) used : Deth v4.24, DeepSea v11.77 shareware, Warm v1.6, NWT v1.3, midi2mus, Wintex v4.3, TED v1.2 Known Bugs : none * Copyright / Permissions * Authors MAY use this level as a base to build additional levels, but please e-mail me first.
